Being assertive can be harder than you may think. Especially if you live with social anxiety or a weak self image. I received a request to talk a bit about this subject in the Life Exploration Podcast, so this is the topic for episode 8. Assertiveness is very closely linked to a person’s state of mind, so being able to become more assertive generally means adjusting or even resetting your mind to enable you to do so. Many CBT counselling programs will tell you this, however my take is a little different. Besides aspiring to change the mind, I think it’s more effective to simply understand the way the mind is right now, and be able to operate above it, and in despite of it.
